I have a break in between a long cable segment on my flat harness drawing layout. The break is there but the outline of the break does not show. Anyone have any idea why? Is there a config option that controls this??

Terminator table in Creo schematic 3.0(M010 Datecode) not working properly at the following conditions:

1.when we have many terminals applicable for same wires & same housings in this case terminator table selects the terminal from lower row.

2.It Should apply terminal Properties when we have double crimp(Means when we have 2 wires in a single terminal)

Defining Materials for Wires in Creo Schematics

Hi,

I have a problem of finding a solution to easily define materials for wires in Creo Schematics. I need to define all wires from a wiring harness to copper (or density of 8.96e-06) and have 3 ways of resolving it in mind:

1. Defining Material information in datatable for spools (What is the name of property for density?)

2. Editing information of spools after import of Schematics xml file in Creo 2.0 (I cant find a way of adding information here)

3. Defining densitiy information in Creo Cabling (Cant find a way to do this yet)

Which one is the best way to do this or do you have a better idea?

I really appreciate any help here

Inherit sheet parameters

Is there a function like dg_inherit or dg_derive which can inherit the parameters like "drawn by" to the Cover sheet and other sheets in the document set.

I have a structure like "Document!<companyname>!Cover" as template for the cover sheet and "Document!<companyname>!Sheet" as template for the other sheets.

In "Document!<comanyname>" I want to have the global parameters for the project and in "Document!<companyname>!Cover" I want to have the parameters extra used on the Cover and in "Document!<companyname>!Sheet" I want the parameters extra used for the sheets, for example "Subject sheet".

I hope someone has a solution.

Tnx ahead.

As per our experience it takes 1 day to do simple design changes and to keep the design parametric from Creo Schematics till Creo Parametric and drawing.

What is your experience? If it is couple of minutes, can you share the best practices followed?

Multi-Colored Wires in Creo

Hi All,

I want to create a Multi-Colored Wire in Creo 2.0/3.0

It has got nothing to do with Cables I think.

It is related to creation of Color file/Appearance file as far as I know.

Regular process is we create an Appearance file with all required colors and during Wire Spool creation we'll assign the color.

But I know to create only one color. I just want to know, If it is possible to create such colors or not.

Attaching Images for the same.

How can I control pipe branch cuts?

By default, piping tool seems cut intersection point based on the inner diameter of the pipe segment. I would like to change this default to outer diameter which matches the way my manufacturing shop constructs tees and saddle joints. Is there a way to change this default?

How do you handle Backshell Ports on Connectors in Creo Schematics?

I am attempting to build up a new Connector Shape in Creo Schematics that will support adding Backshell Ports to the Connector when needed.  I am also attempting to use the Pin Parameter functionality to populate my Connector Contacts with contact specific information.

I am interested if anybody is doing this, I have hit a few bumps along the way, stuck on one now, so I thought I would reach out to see how everybody else is handling this?

The Central Catalog resides in Windchill?

He have been using Creo Schematics for a couple years now. We are moving over to full blown

Winchill early next year for our PLM tool. Now our central catalog for Creo Schematic resides

on a server. A PTC rep asked about putting the Central Catalog under configuration management

in Windchill? Now to my knowledge the Central Catalog in not designed to be put in Windchill.

I'm 95 percent sure of this. Am I missing something?

Spec. Driven Piping Schedule rate error & other missing functionalities

$

1st is I noticed that the master catalog settings (fitting settings) are missing a major thing. If you have same pipe size but different pipe schedule, then the fitting is not switched in the 3D model, when you change the pipeline schedule.

I think PTC needs to update this bug. It works fine when you have 2 different pipe sizes but not when you have same pipe size but different schedule, it does not work.

A pipeline having specific Schedule, the fittings added to the pipeline do not follow the schedule specified.”

PTC case that I created is: C12433195

2nd issue is when you are using assembly fittings and try to mate these fittings in piping mode. They are not mated.

3rd thing I am missing is adding Misc. component in Spec. Driven Piping. Basically components such as tanks and they should not be inserted as fittings but as assembly constraints but only using the components that are assigned in the master catalogue.

There is  a tab for assembly fittings but there are no documentation of how to set up/configure the assembly fittings for Spec. Driven Piping.

And I think this only used to assemble together assigned fittings.

PTC case that I created is: C12303542

Creo elements pro 5.0 cabling

Cable Meisters,

I just want to do some simple cable routing in Creo elements pro 5.0
cabling.

What happened to create wire or cable, etc.

Does everything have to be designated now?

I used to create harness>create spool>create wire. Then I would route
using features. Not entry ports and such since I had no matrix to
follow.

Thanks,

Wayne

Cold Routing Empty Bundles, need MOI's

$

Using WF4.0, I have tried a cold route method a few others have used, for
some notional routes.
Usually I would just route estimated amounts of single wire and pairs for a
notional otherwise read in the diagram
Thought this was an advantage until I wanted to look into Mass Props.

I have routed empty bundles and assigned parameters for thickness and Min
Bend R.
Now I would like to assign a density to the bundle but do not see an
option.

Any Ideas?

I'm unable to select a pipe end to use as a new set start point.  I'm not sure if I'm missing something or if it is just a new bug in Pro/Piping.  I can select a csys.

Harness routing solution when needing to swap out clamps & retain as many references as possible

$

I worked at one company that did some avionics related work. One of the biggest single problems they had was swapping out clamps per customer design reviews at the end of projects. They had roughly 6 different family tables of clamps, and they were all modeled differently and in different orientations. Some of them had the default coordinate system at the center of where the routing of cables went through and some were facing left or others right, I think there may have been one or two that were modeled so they were extruded in the Y direction.or X direction, rather than all being in in the Z direction. To top it off there was also a glitch with some of them, they would often "flip" when you set them to fixed, I believe this was due to someone defining the coordinate system so it conformed to Catia's orientation, where I believe the Z direction is up rather than toward the user.

Anyway, due to this difficulty they didn't really do their harnessing the way it was supposed to be done. I don't know harnessing that well and don't know all the particular, but they were just routing a basic harness to represent the routing to customers.

I developed a clamp model that I believed was the most practical solution. It was difficult to develop, and utilized many of the things I had learned over the years. One model containing all of the clamps that would be used. It would definitely streamline the process of swapping out clamps, AND preserve routing references as well. I no longer work there, as far as I know it's possible they they are using them now, but at the time they weren't utilized although the head of engineering originally said we should. I think the main problem was actually that if they worked as well as I expected them to, that others would be in trouble for all of the difficulties they had with routings over the years. Most of the "concerns" voiced were pretty silly to me, one being how to tell what generic an instance was from.

So basically, I'm wondering if I was right or wrong, I can't see how they wouldn't improve the situation, and potentially totally resolve difficulties with swapping out clamps at the last minute, or even earlier in the process. I thought it was an acheivement to be able to get all of the clamp variations in one generic model.

The significant benefit over using interchange assemblies is that a lot more references can be preserved with proper use, such as detail attachments in drawings, and preserving exploded views and simplified reps.

Schematics Setup Help

Okay, so the Help for setting up CREO Schematics 2 is very hard to try and find some good stuff in the help pages.  What I am looking for is how to do some setup stuff in Schematics and push it as a standard for the company.  I am looking for things like UI, paths, etc.  Also I need to know how to setup a custom catalog for my company to use for all the designs it will do.  I need to setup the permissions and point to the catalog for all designs.

Ribbon cables

$

Hello

I'm trying out cabling in Creo 2.0 (very simple cables so far just for cosmetic reasons) and for the most part I'm getting things to work, except for ribbon cables. Ribbon cables appear to be completely broken.  Setting up locations is difficult, removing locations appears to be impossible, and bends and folds don't do anything logical or expected.  Of course Help is of no help at all and the cabling interface is fairly obtuse and unintuitive.

So the first question is, does anyone use ribbon cables and does it work for you?  And secondly does anyone know af any actually useful help documents or tutorials (for ribbons in particular).

Thanks

Manual XML import in to Pro/Harness

$

We get our wirelists in an excel file format from EE.  Is there a way to convert this excel file format to an XML file format to import into Pro/Cabling??  We're no longer using Pro/Diagram so we don't have the option to do a logical reference back to a Pro/Diagram. EE does not want to learn/use Routes Systems, so now we have to manualy desinate each component and manually read each spool etc..

Thanks

Can't Print From CREO Schematics 2.0

We are setting up CREO 2.0 M020 Schematics.
We have gotten to the place that we want to print out our schematic. When I hit
the OK from the Print screen, all that happens is the Print box closes and I do
not get my windows printer or anything. I cannot even do a print preview. Has
anyone else seen this? Is there a fix for this? My consultant has the same
build and Print works just fine on their computer.

Circuit Data table and Connector Table

$

Help refresh my memory please?  I'm creating parameter driven tables using "from and to" parameters. For some reason the table is splitting wires between the "from" and the "to" side of my circuit data table.  ex: 5 pin connector, 3 wires are on the "from" side and 2 wires are on the "to" side....seems like a simple sort ought to fix it but i'm drawing blanks.  Any help is greatly appreciated...

In Addition, when creating cross sections and showing back of connector views to clarify pin sequence I cannot remember what the ":att" (ex: &ref_des:att) would be to specify wire name and pin name for a particular pin in the connector...

I'm drawing blanks again on how to get the pin name and wire name parameter driven per connector....

I've attached a jpeg to show what we are after!!

Thanks Y'all...appreciate the efforts!
